Plush-a-go-go

I am finally done, thanks to lots of episodes of Fresh Prince (as noted in my delirious entry from before), wearing this little fleece hat with bear ears that I have come to call Thinky-Bear Hat (made by MonoFreen Chris), and sewing in a Morrissey t-shirts and underpants until 3am. I've submitted my entries to Plush You. As we say in Monocol Land, its up to the gods now.

Ok, we don't say that.

People in Greek mythology do, but what do you want from me? I've been sewing in underpants and a bear hat for two weeks.

Bah,

Thanks!! And we love you, surely. All of these guys are going to be up for sale once I can look at their patterns again to crank out a few sets for some stores around Seattle and the website (frankly, I am sick of all of them currently ...)

I was just fretting that George Washington looks a little obese next to his compatriots ... what a beefcake.

Really like these. I have been trying to make similar plushies of objects using screen prinitng but your prints look so much cleaner than mine. What do you used to print them on?

Thanks!

Ink wise, we use Versatex inks for both paper and cloth prints. I really dislike Speedball paints, they are too runny, but I hear a lot of people don't like Versatex because it's too thick ... For these prints, I think we use a standard 10XX screen mesh size, sometimes if you use a finer mesh, the image comes out crisper. Otherwise, I think its just a balance between what type of fabric you print on (felt can get pretty difficult) and adjusting the pressure that you pull the paint over the screen.

Hope that jibberish helps! we just really started screenprinting regularly a year ago, so its a learning process. Thanks for your kind words!

I saw you on craftgrrl. because of your mid-west fascination (I have quite a serious case of it, myself) and the possibility of saying I know someone who has fought in a robot war, I am friending you. you don't have to friend me back, but I highly suggest it.
